The aims of Dog-ed Scotland are to provide educational opportunities, training and motivation for dog owners and trainers in Scotland. Dog-ed Scotland was founded in June 2004 by Evie Johnston and Lynn Barber with the express purpose of hosting workshops and seminars by some of the top dog handlers, trainers and behaviourists in the country for the benefit of Scottish dogs, owners and trainers. Evie Johnston has participated in most doggy disciplines in her time, obedience, agility, heelwork to music and field trials to name a few. She currently shows her two Gordon Setters, obedience and HTM with her Labrador and spends a lot of her time keeping her elderly rescue collie amused. Lynn Barber has also tried her hand at various doggy 'hobbies', including showing rotties, obedience and agility with her lab x and HTM with her present collies but finds that her time is now taken up with entertaining her rescue akita without losing her own sanity. Evie and Lynn were chatting away one day, reminiscing about all the great plans that they once had... "Weren't we going to organize Heelwork to Music classes and events after Kay Laurence's workshops?" "Yep. I seem to remember that we were all fired up. What happened?" "Dunno. I guess the enthusiasm just petered out." "And weren't we going to organize some big names to come up to Scotland? You know, to give lectures and workshops and stuff." "Yes." "You know what?" "What?" "We should do it now." "Yep, we should." "What will we call it?" "How about Dog-ed Scotland ?" "That'll do. Let's get on with it then!!!" Dog-ed Scotland also wish to advertise various educational opportunities taking place in Scotland. If you wish to be included in our 'What's on' listing then please contact us with details. Also if you are interested and wish to be kept up to date on future events please contact either Lynn or Evie. "He is your friend, your partner, your defender, your dog. You are his life, his love, his leader. He will be yours, faithful and true, to the last beat of his heart. You owe it to him to be worthy of such devotion." - Unknown source. |
